Police in Chon Buri arrested a Buddhist monk and seized a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine after the monk allegedly slapped a girl within the face throughout a heated argument. The 32 year previous monk was taken back to the temple following the arrest and the abbot defrocked him. He was then taken to the Samet police station and charged with assault and drug possession.
Police received a name for a domestic disturbance and located the monk arguing with a woman in a room rented in the Samet space. Dollar searched the room and located a gram of crystal methamphetamine in a cigarette field. The monk allegedly informed police that he bought the medicine for 400 baht and described the girl as his girlfriend, which is taboo as Buddhist monks take a vow of celibacy and are strictly forbidden from even touching girls..
